Pursuing Wealth first allows you to unlock a very important in-game feature early on, while the Fame path will give you better items once you’ve gathered a high Fame Reputation in the late game. Prioritizing Power over the other two paths is perfect for item farming because of its NPC mechanics, which you can take advantage of at any stage of the game.
Best Path In The Early Game (Wealth)
Starting off with the Wealth storyline gives you a slight head start in terms of item farming and features unlocked. If you pick wealth as your first path, you’ll be able to unlock Nameless Town earlier. Doing this will allow you to farm more Memory Shards in the long run.
Best Path In The Late Game (Fame)
While you can still farm some decent items from Fame NPCs in the early game, the Fame path excels more in terms of item farming somewhere around the mid-game and end-game. This is because the chances of you persuading a Fame NPC to give their items to you depends on how high your influence level is on the Fame path. You likely won’t have a high enough Fame influence level at the beginning of the game. But given time, you’ll be able to get any item you want from Fame NPCs.
Best Path For Item Farming (Power)
When it comes to the sheer volume of items you can potentially farm from NPCs, the Power path is second to none. All you have to do is defeat any NPC in battle and all of their items will be yours for the taking — no gold nor RNG required. The only problem is that some Power NPCs are exceedingly tougher than others, so you might have to power up a bit more if you’re still in the early to middle stages of the game.
