The crime-fighting Mystery Gang has been iconic for over half a century – and for good reason. The characters are dynamic, individual, and interesting. They take on spooky ghosts and scary monsters which turn out to have real life people behind them. And there’s a loveable talking dog. It’s a recipe for success, no doubt about it. So if you’re like me and have craved Scooby Snacks since your youth, then I can guarantee one of these Minecraft skins will be just the thing for you.
1. Scooby Doo
Check Out This Skin Of course, a Scooby Doo list is going to start with the eponymous dog, Scoobert Doo. I don’t actually know if his name is Scoobert, but it seems fitting, doesn’t it? Creator kurtvonwowwow took the loveable anthropomorphic dog and made, what I think, is a top-tier Minecraft skin of him. The spots and fur are spot on, the ears are flopped and adorable, and the face captures the spirit of the show perfectly. It’s easily identifiable, iconic, and has me craving sandwiches for some reason.
2. Ghost Diver
Check Out This Skin Everyone knows that Scooby-Doo captivates viewers does because it has a rotating cast of monster villains that are equal parts cool and terrifying. The Ghost Diver, Captain Cutler, is a perfect example of this. Planet Minecraft skinmaker Althestane created this skin of the villain from the second episode of the original 1969 show. I had no idea the Ghost Diver’s history went that far back, nor did I know that an old-timey glow-in-the-dark scuba suit could look this good in Minecraft. But you learn something new every day.
3. Fred Jones
Check Out This Skin As the charismatic leader of the Mystery Gang and all-around cool guy, Fred had to make the list. Fred’s affable hard-headedness always made him one of my favorite characters on the show, but this skin is on the list because of creator FlyingTurtles’ design. Despite the fact they created this skin some years ago, the design on it somehow surprisingly rounds out the rough edges traditional to Minecraft and makes a unique & smoothed look to the skin. I love seeing remarkable work from skin creators, and this is certainly worthy of a mention.
4. Spooky Space Kook
Check Out This Skin The Spooky Space Kook is about as iconic as Scooby-Doo villains come, with its renditions from the 1960’s show still popular in some meme forms. The beauty of this version (another hit by creator Althestane) is that it carries a certain amount of menace that the other kid’s show skins don’t have. The futuristic armor with its dark blue tones and oversized skull face make this skin not only a fun reference – but also a really cool and original idea.
5. Velma Dinkley
Check Out This Skin All of the Scooby-Doo characters have iconic designs. But I don’t know if any of them are as iconic as Velma’s. The glasses, the turtleneck, the skirt, the bowl cut. The orange. It’s a look that has been replicated a million times, and will be replicated millions of times more. Thankfully, this replication by creator popchkn is subtly three-dimensional and a showstopper of a skin.
6. Tar Monster
Check Out This Skin If you’ve seen the early 2000’s live action Scooby Doo movies, then you’re familiar with the Tar Monster. Originally from an episode in the 1970’s show, the live action Scooby Doo 2 animated the Tar Monster in wonderful, monstrous size, making it one of my favorite Scooby Doo villains. Creator chrisblue806’s Tar Monster is only adding to my love for this one-eyed ghoul.
7. Daphne Blake
Check Out This Skin I think Daphne might be my favorite character out of the entire Scooby-Doo lineup. I’ve been struggling to come to this conclusion because, well, every character in Scooby-Doo is amazing. But I think Daphne might just be the best. She’s fashion-forward, confident, unapologetically herself, and also a total badass. With this skin’s flawless rendition of Daphne by creator Duckeii, it’s no wonder that my favorite color has always been purple.
8. Old Iron Face
Check Out This Skin This is a serious question: Is there any Scooby Doo villain with a name funnier than “Old Iron Face”? The name itself had me chuckling heartily to myself. But as it turns out, the character’s design is actually great. Chrisblue806 returns with another well-made entry on this list. And this one features details like the collar poking out of the sweater, and a break where the mask and head meet, that just makes this skin enjoyable to anyone.
9. Shaggy Rogers
Check Out This Skin The Mystery Gang has almost been fully assembled except for the great Norville Rogers. I know, I couldn’t believe his name was Norville either… but I guess it makes sense why he goes by Shaggy. Shaggy Rogers rolls off the tongue easier. “Shaggy” also perfectly describes his look, and it describes the way creator Turbo Soggy captured it in this skin. It doesn’t have too many extraneous details – just the fun-loving, laid-back, shaggy-haired character we all know and love.
10. Creeper
Check Out This Skin I love the Creeper’s design from the 1970 cartoon. The bulbous eyes and the hunched Frankenstein figure make the creature look so fun. I’m not sure why the Creeper has such a warm place in my heart, but I’m sure glad that creator Boomer took the time to make this skin of the creature. When you go to download the skin, be sure to let the people around you know that “Creeper” here means something different than it usually does in Minecraft. Just a heads up. You don’t want anyone attacking you thinking you might blow up on their server.
11. The Blue Falcon
Check Out This Skin It’s not every day (or every Scooby-Doo episode) that the Mystery Gang gets to work alongside other heroes – but the Blue Falcon is one worth mentioning. This version of the skin, a rendition by creator AHomelessBug from the 2020 Scoob! movie, looks fantastic. Before seeing this skin, I actually wasn’t familiar with the Blue Falcon. But the aerodynamic design with radiant blues and golds makes me want to go out and catch up on whatever Blue Falcon media is out there.
12. Scooby-Dee
Check Out This Skin Scooby-Dee is something of a deep cut in the Scooby-Doo lore, but is a personal favorite of mine. I think I like Scooby Dee so much because the idea of Scooby Doo having a movie star cousin tickles me greatly. The fact that the Scooby family keeps that first name as “Scooby”, but changes their last name to something beginning with “D” has always been funny to me. Equally funny is attempting to explain what this stark white dog figure was to my friend’s on my Minecraft Realm. I’d highly recommend it.
13. Swamp Monster
Check Out This Skin I couldn’t tell you why, but I love the ideas of Swamp Monsters. The swamp is such a gross wet place, that it seems totally fitting that monsters would rise out of it all the time. I’m glad that Scooby-Doo creators agreed with me – and that creator mr_nay_nay took their time to create one. The coolest thing about this skin is that it was made back in 2011 before the swamp biome was added to Minecraft. But the creator somehow nailed the swamp’s texture on the skin. Looks like the people at Mojang were taking notes back in the day.
14. Scrappy-Doo
Check Out This Skin Perhaps my undying love for the live action Scooby-Doo movies is speaking here, but I don’t think any discussion of Scooby-Doo is complete without at least a mention of Scrappy. Scrappy-Doo, the annoying and scrappy nephew of Scooby, is an excellent foil to the usual upbeat and kind nature of the Mystery Gang. He’s just a perfect character – unlikeable and endearing at the same time. Besides, who doesn’t love a puppy? Especially an oversized Minecraft skin version of a fictional one.
15. Scooby-Doo Onesie (Girl)
Check Out This Skin Part of the universe of Scooby-Doo is the fact that it’s a popular show and a popular brand. I started this list talking about Scooby Snacks, and I still want Scooby Snacks. This skin by creator NoraKat13 is an excellent depiction of a girl wearing a Scooby-Doo onesie, and I’m absolutely jealous of it. I would take a Scooby-Doo onesie like that IRL in a heartbeat. But since I don’t have one, I guess I’ll just have to use this skin and live out my best life in Minecraft.
