Halloween only comes once a year. But you can always celebrate it with your Sims. Especially those who are more into the paranormal and occult side of things. Here’s some of the best custom supernatural/occult CC for The Sims 4 that’ll suit any creepy arcane storyline (and maybe give you some cool photos, too).
Tarot Reader Career by PurpleThistles
Check Out This CC Sure, The Sims 4: Paranormal Stuff pack gives us the Paranormal Investigator profession. Which don’t get me wrong, is a pretty cool career on its own. But what if you just want to be that medium perpetually backlit by candlelight, able to tell people’s fates just by reading a couple cards? That’s what this career mod is for. The Tarot Card Reader mod by PurpleThistles is a rabbit-hole career that can add plenty of flavor to a supernatural or psychic storyline. There are 10 levels all in all, with Minor Arcana Training as the first level, and Guru Tarot Reader as the tenth. They all have their own excellent descriptions of what your Sim’s duties will entail, including fair wages and work hours. This career would also work extremely well bundled with radioactivedotcom’s Fortune Teller pose pack, and you’ll soon see why (don’t worry; it’s up next).
Fortune Teller Poses by radioactivedotcom
Check Out This CC As you can see in the preview photos on the CC’s page, these custom poses are the epitome of dark, mysterious, and alluring. Exactly what you want your fortune teller/master tarot reader to be! There are 18 single poses for solo readings, and 2 bonus poses for palm readings (needs two Sims). The solo poses are chock-full of varying emotions, from concerned to sly to mildly interested. Just note that the card set accessory that the creator links in their description doesn’t show up in my game, but the download is still active and (as far as I know) up-to-date. If it doesn’t work for you, feel free to grab this Tarot Deck and Spreads recolor (mesh included) by drosims. Worked just fine for me!
Witchy Décor Set by tinywards
Check Out This CC Some witches like to hide their arcane foci in a secret room and blend in with normal, non-magical society. Others use them to decorate their living room. Different strokes for different folks, I always say. But if your spellcasting Sim is more of the latter, then this cute Witchy Décor CC Set by tinywardens should be high on your to-download list. It’s got 34 items all designed with the same occult/arcane theme, meaning they’re all items you’d expect a practicing potion-maker/spellcaster/dark-arts summoner to own. What I love is that all the items in this set are varying levels of cute and creepy. I mean, a witch doll with its own felt hat can be innocent. Same can be said for dusty leather tomes; impractical and unusual, but not quite disturbing. But the goat skulls, the knives, or the pot of suspicious-looking fungi? Now those might be a bit too weird for someone’s taste.
Apothecary Cabinet by bramblefinch
Check Out This CC This here custom cabinet by CC maker bramblefinch is the mother of all storage solutions. Let me tell you now: it’s got 80 working décor slots. Yes, 80. Name a base game cabinet, display case, or shelving unit that comes close. Not even the unnecessarily huge bookcases have half of those free slots, even though it would make perfect sense for them to. So you can imagine how ecstatic I was when I tried it out and it worked perfectly. It’s meant to be an apothecary cabinet, but you can honestly just use it as any regular multi-slotted organizational/display cabinet. But given the theme of this article, it would look really cool with glass bottles, unidentified herbs, suspicious-looking mushrooms, and softly-glowing rocks. I decided to decorate it with the objects from tinywardens’ Witchy Décor Set and it looked excellent. Fun fact: the only reason this cabinet has 80 slots is because the creator had to cut back on the original 250+ slots (yep) since it was causing some people in-game errors. (Hence the “Possible Fix” in the title).
Night of the Witch Poses by Something Wicked Sims
Check Out This CC This is arguably one of the more disturbing pose packs on this list. But since we’re looking for the best supernatural stuff, that’s a good thing. It’s even spookier if your Sims are decked out in creature features and creepy cosmetics (and I’ve listed plenty in this article if you need some help). There are a total of seven poses here, and they all do a pretty good job depicting the classic coven get-togethers that are dramatized in media. People dancing, lots of wavy hand gestures, the questionable human sacrifice… all that fun stuff. And if the idea of sacrifices makes you squeamish, maybe don’t use the third pose with the altar…
Ouija Party Poses by Something Wicked Sims
Check Out This CC This one’s probably my favorite out of all the pose packs here, just because it feels like a scene (or, more accurately, scenes) straight from a teenage horror movie. Who else would be bored/daring/cocky enough to mess around with an Ouija board than a bunch of teenagers-to-young-adults? Aside from the fact that these poses are incredibly high-quality (no awkward clipping, limbs akimbo, or unnatural, forced positions, nope!), the creator managed to inject some quintessential horror-movie-character stereotypes in the models. You’ve got the Kinda Curious, the Arcane Expert, the Skeptic, the Supportive Boyfriend, and the “This is a Bad Idea” Friend. If it wasn’t obvious, I genuinely love the expressions on all the models. And I’m happy to report that they translated excellently to my game.
Arachne Set by Natalia-Auditore
Check Out This CC I didn’t specifically search for a “half-woman, half-spider” costume when making this list, but damn. Am I glad I found this regardless. Because this Spider Queen outfit is something straight from my occult nightmares. And I mean that in the best way. You want spooky, creepy, and arcane? How about a six-foot-tall monster spider lady that can scuttle up and down your walls? The creator even went the extra mile to link some awesome custom poses in the description to match! So you can not only make this nightmare arachnid-hybrid, you can also take some attractively terrifying pictures of her screaming at the camera, hanging from the ceiling, or running after her prey. Pair these scary spider bottoms with a not-of-this-earth skin color, some horns, and some pointy fangs, and there you go. New horror game boss unlocked.
Arachnophobia – Accessory Spider Eyes by Pyxis
Check Out This CC Want to make your Arachne!Sim more Spider then Woman? These creepy (but excellent) spider-eyes accessory are by a different creator (Pyxis!), but damn do they complete the look. I found a couple other “third eye” or “insect eyes” CC while I was digging for cool occult/supernatural stuff, but this piece stood out. It is crazy high-quality. Other custom monster eye accessories looked either too flat or too bug-eyed. Could be just a difference in textures (the good ol’ Maxis Match versus Alpha CC debate) or something, but they really didn’t translate well in CAS or in-game. On the other hand, these Arachnophobia – Accessory Spider Eyes by Pyxis worked almost too well. Aside from the actual spider eyes that sit on your Sim’s forehead, the creator included skin details like pale veins, warped discoloration, and shadows to indicate bulging and indents. Without the eyes, the skin details make it look like there are genuinely multiple tiny eye sockets on your Sim’s forehead.
Werewolf Costume + Werewolf Posepack by Natalia-Auditore
Werewolf Costume CC Werewolf Posepack As someone who also happens to play The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on the side, I was ridiculously happy to see a TS4 costume modeled after the Skyrim Werewolf. You can bet your plumbobs I downloaded it ASAP. And I’m happy to report that the costume works just as expected. It may not come with the “Transform Into Werewolf” option like in The Sims 3: Supernatural, but hey. Just assign the full body Werewolf costume as a second (or third, or fourth) outfit and have your Sim change into it whenever they want. Here’s another thing I love about this particular Sims 4 CC creator: they are very, very good at bundling their CAS stuff with custom poses. So yes: you can get your Werewolf-costumed Sim to crouch over and howl at the moon, just like the model is doing in the preview photos.
Aloha! Eyeset + Add-Ons by Pyxis
Check Out This CC So these aren’t specifically supernatural or occult-themed per se, but I thought I would include this as it helped me build some cool-looking, not-of-this-earth beasties. This eyeset by Pyxis is one of the best and most extensive ones I’ve found for creating otherworldly eyes. I’m sure there are plenty of other eyesets that are even more extensive (ones by PralineSims come to mind), but Pyxis is pretty well-known for their monster/beast/fantasy/occult-Sims CC. They have a way of warping features and injecting terror-creature elements into their CC in a way that’s almost… cute. Or, at the very least, aesthetically pleasing. Basically, the Aloha! eyeset lets you play around with sclera and iris colors. There’s quite a bit to unpack, so I can’t list them all down here. But I will say that this CAS pack (plus its corresponding add-on pack by the same creator) helped me achieve glowing purple wraith eyes, heterochromatic milky-white werewolf eyes, and bone-chillingly-black Spider-Woman eyes. If you’re building an occult Sim, I highly recommend this eyeset. You can find the overlays – i.e., the Aloha! Add-On Eyes and Overlays – right here.
Magic Sigils by Natalia-Auditore
Check Out This CC This one’s a pretty simple décor item, but I thought the concept was pretty cool. So I figured, sure why not? Because there are so many occult occasions where an ominously glowing magic sigil can set the mood, you know? I mean think about it: summoned a demon? Preparing a blood moon sacrifice? Finally unlocked the secrets to unlimited power? Nothing sets the scene quite like a perfectly symmetrical circle with symbols from a dead language coming to life right beneath your feet. Natalia-Auditore’s Magic Sigil CC comes in 12 different colors and designs. You’ve got the standard geometrical figures, plus the pretty six-pointed star variations… and there are even two portal-like designs: one leading to the cosmos, and another one leading to the blackened pits of god-knows-where. These sigils work as rugs. And yes, they do give off their own light. I suggest turning on the bb.moveobjects cheat before placing them down, as their footprint can interfere with some base game foundations.
Devil’s Backbone – Maxis Zombie Skin 2T4 by Pyxis
Check Out This CC If you’re going for that really authentic undead look, simply turning your Sim’s skin color grey isn’t going to cut it. Zombies are basically reanimated corpses, right? Skin sagging, color all gone, sunken cheeks, eyebags for days … you get the picture. So does Sims CC creator Pyxis. This CC pack is a bunch of really awesome skin stuff to create an accurate, melanin-void monster that’s still somehow visually attractive. Because call me crazy, but the veins and skin details look almost delicate. And it really does yield this sunken, dirt-caked, crawled-from-the-grave look that I can totally dig. Since the zombie pallor is a skin detail, you can overlay it over any skintone – not just the pretty zombie skintone the creator included – to give your supernatural Sims a bit of grime for flavor.
The Halloween Collection – Mark of the Wolf by taraab
Check Out This CC Want everyone to know your Sim got into a fight with (were)wolf and lived to tell the tale? Sims CC creator taraab’s gotcha. This cosmetic CC may be simple. But I personally love the concept! The Halloween Collection – Mark of the Wolf functions as makeup (not a skin detail) and comes in two colors: fresh-blood red and healed-over silver. It may not be specifically supernatural, but I tried slapping it onto my pasty-faced vampire. The results were pretty sweet. If you want to up your vamp’s intimidation factor a notch or two, this custom scar can definitely help.
Ghost – Skeleton Makeup by Pyxis
Check Out This CC Just like taraab’s Halloween Collection CC, this custom full-face makeup set wasn’t something I specifically searched for… but it was definitely something I was happy to find. The preview photos probably say all there needs to be said, but I’ll confirm: These marks work as both makeup (full-face or blush) and skin details, so you can mix, match, and layer as much as you need to. The edges of each mark have a soft airbrushed effect that allows them to blend seamlessly on your Sim’s face. Makes it look like your Sim is, in fact, part-ectoplasm. It also works as some sort of tribal face-paint mask – the kind witch doctors would use for rituals. Either way, definitely spoopy enough to include in this list.
Demon Days – Vampire Stuff by Pyxis
Check Out This CC Described as “bits ‘n’ things” that the creator’s wanted for their Vampire Sims for a while, Pyxis’ Demon Days: Vampire Stuff is a grab-bag of small details and simple CC. Eyebags, a skin pallor overlay, skin gradients, spidery veins, horns… all of these are pretty small cosmetic things that, on the surface level, wouldn’t make much of a difference. But hoo-boy, do they make a difference. I think the preview photos speak for themselves, but little skin details – like the eyebags and the veins – can make a Vampire look that much closer to undeath. The horns are unusual for a Vampire, but they’re within the realm of possibility (plus they can make a Vampire seem more ‘demonic’). The skin gradients are definitely my favorite. When paired with pale or grey skin, the gradients add more texture and character to an otherwise bland or uninspired Vampire build. It’s all subtle, sure. But trust me: all the elements of this pack can make a character design so much more substantial. It’s the little things, as they say.
