The Real Housewives of New York City alum Bethenny Frankel says late boyfriend Dennis Shields “lives on” in their dogs. The reportedly had gotten engaged only four months prior to his passing leaving the businesswomen to mourn a great loss.
Fans watched as the last season of The Real Housewives of New York City aired Frankel struggle with the death of her on-again-off-again boyfriend, Dennis Shields. Frankel has always been a supporter of rescue dogs saying that people should adopt and not go to pet stores. Each rescue dog has its own story and according to Frankel, Shields memory lives through their two dogs. The two adopted Biggy and Smallz in October of 2016. The banker was found dead two years later and his cause of death was undetermined.
The couple had adopted two dogs which they named Biggy and Smallz and the BStrong founder still believed that his memory lives on in their canine guardian angels. Frankel spoke with Us Weekly admitting that her theory sounds a bit crazy but that she knew her dogs have changed her family’s lives. The housewife was convinced by Shields to adopt the Lhasa Apso puppies when their litter showed up in a rescue shelter. At first, Frankel did not want to adopt the puppies as she still had her dog Cookie but after her older dog passed away in 2017, she admitted that she was happy to have had the two new dogs by her side for some extra comfort. She even said, “My dog passed away, so I was left with Biggie and Smalls and he named them, so people’s memory lives on.”
While the Skinny Girl said that she and her daughter have experienced a lot of loss in their household in the last couple of years, she has had to acknowledge that her two dogs have been a saving grace in the mourning process. She revealed that Shields had been the one to name the two pups and since his passing, they have been a constant reminder of the love they shared.
The two small dogs have also taught Frankel’s daughter, Bryn, a lesson in compassion. She told readers that Bryn was proud to have adopted two animals in need and become a dog mom. For the Bravo personality, it must be comforting to know that she can always look at her two fur babies and remember the good memories that she had with her boyfriend. Fans are just excited to see what the future holds for Frankel after she left the franchise for good.
